Add sparkle to any party quickly and easily with your Cricut Maker.

If you would have asked the Sydney of 10 years ago how she felt about sparkle and glitter she would have said something like ‘Meh, it’s OK.’ Heck, even if you would have asked me 3 years ago what I thought about it, you would have gotten a similar response. But ever since I had Mahle, any time I have the chance to add a little sparkle to something I do. And we went all out with the sparkle on this party!

Designing and prepping the projects was SO easy in Cricut Design Space and the Cricut Maker made making them even easier! You can use the 2x fast mode for some of the larger pieces (like the yellow and green on the full pineapples) and the knife blade made making the cake topper easy peasy!

I had originally planned to use adhesive foil and iron-on for this party, but after making our Adventure Awaits bags at the Cricut Mountain Make-A-Thon last week, I thought the Holographic Sparkle Iron-On would look better, and it totally does!

Using iron-on vinyl on your party decor not only adds a splash of sparkle but it also makes your decor sturdier and easier to work with! Cricut has tried out all of the different types of iron-on vinyl on cardstock and you can check out the recommended heat settings for cardstock and paper here.

AND the new EasyPress 2 made applying the iron-on fast and easy! You can read more about the different options available here.

All of the gold holographic you see on the pineapples is Holographic Sparkle Iron-On. All of the green is Holographic Vinyl. The reason I used vinyl instead of iron-on, is you can’t use iron-on on chipboard (which is what the cake topper is made out of), and I wanted to keep a cohesive look throughout the party.

All of the pineapples are from the same image in design space. I’ve found when I’m planning a party, or any large project with multiple projects included, it’s best to start with a basic image and use that for every part possible. You can layer, slice or alter the image to make each project unique and different.

I’ve also found by doing this, I can take basic, inexpensive party pieces (like napkins and straws) and really make them look fancier and like something you spent more than $1 on.

Another money saving tip when planning parties is to make your cake. I found the inspiration on Pinterest for this pineapple cake and was able to make it for a fraction of what it would have cost me to buy it.

I’ll be sharing the tutorials for each part of this party – the banner, straws, napkins, pineapple cake and cake topper a little later this week. Until then, if you want to hop on over to Cricut.com and order your Holographic Sparkle Iron-On and Vinyl you can use code TFRUGAL to save 10% and score FREE shipping!
