12 Frugal Days of Christmas Day 6: Buddy The Elf's Pancake Spaghetti

What’s your favorite Christmas movie? I have several favorites. If it was up to me (and luckily with two little boys who love the holiday season as much as I do I can) I’d watch Christmas movies all year around. From the classics like Miracle On 34th Street and Rudolph to newer ones like How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Polar Express (which is my boys’ all time favorite movie. Ever.) There is something about a good Christmas movie that just makes my heart happy.

Last week we watched Elf for the first time with my kids; well the first time that they remember. They loved it! My two year old now walks around saying “Spread Christmas cheer, sing mommy”. I love this stage that he is in! I think their favorite part though was when Buddy the Elf made breakfast, spaghetti covered in syrup and candy. They love spaghetti and they know that syrup is basically liquid sugar so of course what did they request for breakfast the next morning, syrup spaghetti.

I’m a huge spaghetti fan myself, but the thought of putting syrup on noodles makes me a little sick to my stomach. But when my boys want something, they want something. Moms of toddlers you know what I mean. So I improvised. Instead of spaghetti I made pancakes to look like spaghetti; sort of. Really all I had to tell them was that it was spaghetti, add a few M&M’s and syrup and they went to town. These were so easy to make I will definitely be making them again; possibly even Christmas morning. Surprise your little ones with this, or yourself and watch smiles light up from ear to ear.
