Make a fun and custom tablescape for the kids this Thanksgiving for $1.
Thanksgiving is one week away; are you excited? Are you ready? We sure are excited and though the meal plans have not yet been finalized our activities and table settings are ready! Nothing like waiting to the last minute to decide what you’re going to eat right?! I’ve seen so many beautiful tablescapes this year and I wanted to do something nice and fancy this year. Then I remembered we have a two and three year old and busting out the china and wine glasses was more dangerous than it was worth having a gorgeous tablescape.
Then I had the idea, why not make a fun table for the kids?! I started with their own “special plates and cups”. Special meaning IKEA place settings. But what else would make the table fun? My boys love when we go to Macaroni Grill because they get to color all over the tablecloth so I brought that fun home.
I have a roll of kraft paper I got from the dollar store and cut placemats 12″ x 18″. Then I got my cameo out and using sketch pens I printed “I’m Thankful For…” I’ll have crayons on the table and then when they are waiting for dinner (or dessert) they can draw pictures of what they are thankful for. It’s a win-win; the kids get to draw and color on the dinner table AND they think about and express what they are thankful for. I was going to make these for the adults too but then I found this activity tablecloth at Walmart for $1.97 so I opted for that for the grownups. Yep we’ll be drinking our sparkling cider out of wine glasses, eating on fine china all on top of a $1.97 tablecloth you can color on. That’s how we roll 🙂 The nice part is when everything is said and done I can just roll up the tablecloth and throw it away.
The holidays are all about spending time with family, having fun and remembering what you are thankful for. I think I met all those things with this kids’ table. How are you dressing up the kids’ table for Thanksgiving?

Such a cute idea! I’d have to use stamps since I don’t have a printer like that. Love using craft paper for kids’ place settings!

This is so cool Sydney! I forgot about Macaroni Grill, the kids went there one time years ago and loved it! How fun to incorporate this into your home. We just have my husbands parents and brother come, so there is no separate kids table for us, but I may copy this for their settings at the table!

This is awesome!! I didn’t think about feeding it in a printer. So great and a wonderful way to keep the kids engaged during dinner. 🙂

I love the idea of letting the kids write or draw what they are thankful for! What a sweet way to keep them entertained during what can sometimes be a long meal. Great thinking!
