If you have little ones at home not quite old enough to ride a pedal bike yet this post is for you! A few weeks back my boys found a big box on our front porch and they couldn’t wait to see what was inside. We are a big bike loving family, like one entire wall of our garage is covered in bikes, so they were super excited when they saw it was another bike. They were even more excited when they saw it lights up!
Assembly was super easy and we were able to put everything together in less than 15 minutes. There are two light compartments, one by the handle bars and one by the seat, and each require 3 AAA batteries. Once we had the batteries in they were ready to ride!
There are a lot of other great features on this bike as well. My boys loved the bell and my husband and I really appreciated the handle on the back of the seat; it makes it much easier to hold on to if your little one needs some help with balance. The bike also comes with front and rear reflectors which are a definite must with night riding.
The tires are rubber (longer lasting vs. foam tires on most balance bikes) and the frame is made of polycarbonate (plastic) which makes it lighter than aluminium frames so it’s easier to carry around. Just because it’s plastic doesn’t mean it’s not strong though; this thing can stand up to falls and temper tantrums with ease!
There is a knob just below the seat that you can use to raise and lower the seat height easily. This comes in super handy if you have multiple kids wanting to ride the bike. The lights turn on by a push button and as you ride they stay just as bright as when they first turned on. The lights are bright enough to light up the trail they are riding on and make the perfect leader bike for “Follow The Leader”.
My boys each have another balance bike but they always want to ride the Phantom Bike. Not only are the lights cool, but they both say it’s easier to ride than their other bikes. That means it’s starting to build up their confidence more to be ready to ride a peddle bike, and it’s easier for mom and dad too. We aren’t having to run behind them all the time. Since we got the Phantom Bike we were actually able to transition my oldest to a peddle bike with no training wheels. He still loves to ride his Phantom Bike though!
