Show your love for America with this easy to make wreath.
My favorite holiday (aside from my boys’ birthdays) is almost here. I love The 4th of July! From the parades to the parties to the food and of course the fireworks; I’ve been a huge fan of the holiday since I was a teenager. Now that I’m a mom I love planning holidays with my boys even more. We’ve been working together on some sweet treats (I’ll be sharing our 4th of July Slush recipe next week) and some fun affordable Patriotic Party Decor. Just last week we finished our 4th of July wreath.
We had a ton of fun shopping for supplies for this wreath too. And by “we” I mean them running around Michael’s adding everything in sight to our cart and me hoping and praying they didn’t break anything. I still have a few grapevine wreaths that my dad found in his basement last year so all I had to buy were the accessories. Michael’s has such a great selection of red, white and blue flowers it was hard to pick just one so we picked two. I also got the patriotic ribbon, wooden letters and scrapbook paper on our Michael’s adventure.
18″ Grapevine Wreath
Red, White and Blue Plastic Flowers
3 in. Wooden Letters (U, S and A)
Scrapbook Paper in Red, White and Blue
Patriotic Burlap Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun
Mod Podge
Scissors
Directions:
Trace and cut letters out of scrapbook paper (I did the U red, S white and A blue)
Use Mod Podge to attach paper to letters.
Cut stems on flowers with sharp scissors or an Xact0 knife about 4 in from bottom of flowers.
Position flowers along side of wreath and feed stems through vines.
Wrap burlap ribbon around center of flowers and tie into a bow.
Using the hot glue gun attach USA letters to the other side of the wreath.
Place books (or something similarly heavy) on top of the letters for 30 minutes to help hot glue hold.
The directions may sound similar to my Light & Bright Wreath I shared last month and that’s because they are basically the same, just with more letters. I loved how it turned out and how easy it was to make I replicated it for our Patriotic Wreath. Do you like to decorate for Independence Day? I’d love to see your pictures!
