Can you believe it is almost time to go back to school?! My boys spent the first part of summer waking up with the sun and have just barely started sleeping in until 9 or 10 on most days. I know the transition for us back to early mornings is going to be a little rough so I started thinking about what we could do to make them easier. I’ve implemented these 4 things already and they are making a huge difference in our morning routine.
Lay out clothes and everything you need for the next day the night before. I know, I know we’ve heard it a thousand times; laying out your outfit the night before makes getting ready in the morning so much easier. And guess what…it totally does! No more frantically searching for clean socks or a shirt. Don’t just stop at the clothes though. Sometime between dinner and bedtime talk with everyone about what’s going on the next day and make sure that all necessary paperwork, materials, books, etc. are ready for the next day before you go to bed.
Quick, easy and tasty breakfast. Starting out your day on a full tummy makes all the difference whether your 5 or 50. Have a place where you keep your keys. One of the last things you want to be missing when you’re running late are your keys. Have a place set up in the kitchen or by the door where you can hang or hold your keys so you’re not spending half the morning searching for them.
