You’re The Bomb Valentine

These Valentines are SO easy to make (really they take less than 2 minutes to make) and are perfect to give teachers, girlfriends or for older kids to hand out to their friends.

One of my favorite holidays as a kid was Valentine’s Day. I loved going to the store to pick out the perfect valentines, decorating an old shoe box and then spending hours (really it probably was like twenty minutes but felt like hours when your 7) going through your valentines to decide who gets which one. Then the day of the class party was the best part! Now that I’m a mom all that excitement of Valentine’s Day is coming back; but this time I’m excited to MAKE valentines!

Over the next week I’ll be sharing several non-food valentine options. I know that the kids are going to be getting a TON of candy and sweets so I thought I’d share some alternative options that both kids (and parents) will enjoy even more. We’re making these valentine’s for my son’s teachers. I found the EOS lip balms on sale at CVS and I had a coupon so I only paid $1.50 each. You can find them on Amazon for $2 or if you’re wanting to buy several Costco has a 6 pack for $13 I believe.

Then all you need to do is open up this file in Cricut Design Space. It’s already sized and ready for you to cut and write! If you want to make your own tags, or want to add a different saying let me show you how I made them!

Supplies:

Cardstock

Pens (You can use Cricut Pens or I found these pens work too – you can get a pack of 48 for $15.79)

Light Grip Mat – You need to use the Light Blue Mat for Cardstock. The green mat is too strong and will ruin your cardstock.

Cricut Explore Air or Maker

Cricut Spatula – This will help lift the cardstock off the mat without and curling or tearing.

EOS Lip Balm

Directions:

Open up design space and draw a rectangle. Mine was 4″ x 5″. You can also change the color of the rectangle to match your cardstock if you’d like but you don’t have to.

Add your text.

Add your bomb image. Click IMAGES and search bomb. I used the first one that comes up.

Add a circle and make it 1.4″ x 1.4″ (this is wide enough for the inner rim of the EOS lip balm to fit through and still be able to screw the lid on).

Change the text and bomb from cut to write. In the layers menu on the right side click the scissors next to the text. Then click the write button in the top menu and select the color you want to write. You’ll want to make sure you change the colors in this menu if you want multiple colors on your card. When you send it to the machine to cut you’ll be prompted to change the pen colors.

Select everything (click and drag around the rectangle) and click ATTACH in the bottom layers panel on the right side.

If you want to make multiple, click the design and select DUPLICATE in the top layers panel on the right side.

Send to Cricut to be cut/written. Make sure to load your pen in the A clamp.

Use the spatula to lift your card off the cutting mat.

Unscrew the EOS lip balm lid and place the card in between. Put the lid back on.
