Never have questions about what there is to eat with these easy to make chalkboard menus.
How many times a day do you hear this in your house “I’m hungry. What do we have to eat?” If you’re family is anything like mine you probably hear this at least ten times a day. My boys are going through a stage of never ending hunger where they wake up and they’re hungry. They eat breakfast and they’re still hungry; they eat snacks and they’re still hungry and this cycle continues until bedtime. No matter what they eat or how much they are always looking for more.
I finally got tired of answering the question over and over again (and sometimes after grocery shopping I forget what we had) so I decided to make my life easier and make a chalkboard menu board. I was going to make one big menu but when I found these circle chalkboards for $1.50 I couldn’t pass them up. I also picked up some chalkboard markers and headed home to make my menus.
While I was at Walmart picking up the markers I wanted to get a few snacks to feed my hungry boys. I picked up their favorites then as I was headed to the checkout I saw a display for DOVE® Chocolate Fruit & Nut and they sounded so good; I mean how can you go wrong with fruits, nuts and chocolate?! So I added a few bags to my cart for me and finished shopping.
One of my goals, like many of you I’m sure, is to eat better this year and I’ve done really well with it. One of the reasons I love these is because they are a great reward for days when I do eat better. The DOVE® Dark Chocolate Strawberry & Cocoa Almond was definitely our favorite but the DOVE® Dark Chocolate Raspberry & Honey Roasted Almonds and the DOVE® Roasted Almonds covered in Dark Chocolate were really good too.
I could talk about chocolate all day but I know you are probably wanting to know more about these menu boards right?! They are so easy to make! All you need is:
Chalk Markers (you can definitely use chalk too but I’m not a big fan of writing with chalk)
Directions:
Using a white chalk marker write one of four meals on your chalkboard (breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks)
Under the meal write all of your options (you can use the same white marker but I really like how the blue looks with the white and pink here).
Use a push pin to hang chalkboards on the wall near your pantry or somewhere near the kitchen where everyone can see them.
I was originally going to do the meal headings out of vinyl but I decided to just use the chalk markers instead and I’m glad I did. Even though I lined up my writing to the hanger on the back when I was writing a few still hung crooked when I hung them. I just used a little rubbing alcohol to clean everything off and started over again. I’ve also found it’s easiest to fill out the menus right after you get home from shopping so your snacks and meal options are fresh on your mind.
These were a life saver this past weekend when I went to the Build Your Blog Conference; I didn’t get one text asking what we had to eat. These are definitely a must for when you are going to be gone for a weekend or if you have older kids that get home from school before you get home.

What a great idea to have little menu boards to stay on track with what food options your family has on any given day/week! I haven’t seen the DOVE® Dark Chocolate Raspberry & Honey Roasted Almond yet at my Walmart so I need to be on the lookout – all of my favorite flavors all rolled into one! #client
