Create cute and functional storage bins for the little monsters in your life for $1.
Have you figured it out yet that we LOVE Monsters around here? From our Monsters University Party for Statham to our Monsters Inc. Popcorn Balls that we made for Halloween last year; we are a big Sulley and Mike lovin’ family. So when I was looking for ways to brighten up the boys’ room Monsters was the first thing that came to mind!
Knowing good and well that my little guys would love (with their whole bodies) whatever I bought, or made, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that had a good probability of getting ruined. So I went to my go-to place for frugal, crafty supplies; Walmart. I was thinking I would buy some white bins and then paint them blue and green. But I found these super cute bins that were already blue and green AND they were dry erase! The best part…they cost $.98!
Once you have your bins all you need are a few pieces of colored paper and/or card stock, scissors and tape and you’re good to go!
Supplies:
Blue and Green Crate
White, blue, black and purple card stock or paper
Scissors
Circles to trace (I used a cup, roll of tulle and water bottle cap)
Tape
Directions:
Trace circles with your tracers. For Mike you will need a large white circle, medium blue circle and small black circle. For Sulley make 6 medium sized purple circles.
Cut out circles. Since Sulley’s spots aren’t exact circles I cut jagged purple circles.
Using tape attach circles to bin.
Easy peasy right?! I wanted bins for their dresser so I had a place to store the things we use all the time. That way I wasn’t digging through the closet when it was nap time and they were overly tired.
When I was at Walmart I also had to pick up a few other things (because who doesn’t when you’re at Walmart) and strolled on by the baby section. I saw the cutest Monsters Inc. Crib Bedding Set by Disney Baby. When we were trying to get my oldest to get rid of his pacifier we bribed him with a new big Star Wars toy and it worked. Now we are working on getting my youngest to stay in his crib and not jump out. So I asked him if I got him a new Monsters Inc. blanket if he would stay in his crib. Of course he said yes and you know what? He hasn’t jumped out of his crib since! It worked! Does it make me a bad mom that I bribe my kids to do things? No, I don’t think so! I love how cute the blanket is and soft the sheet is. On the blanket Sulley is a soft, plush fabric and there has been many a time I have gone in to check on him and and he is cuddled up with Sulley on the blanket.
If Monsters Inc. isn’t your kids favorite Disney Baby has so many other cute bedding sets to choose from too including Nemo and Cinderella; and they are super affordable! What is your little one’s favorite Disney character?

Oh these are super cute. I have to create some storage options for all the kids. I love how you did this on a super budget because storage boxes are so expensive in the stores.
Sydney says
Thank you MJ… Is always fun to make new things for kids… Especially without spending a ton of money

What a great idea for decorating the storage boxes. I have some plain ones that would look much cuter with a little patterned paper added.
Thanks for linking up your idea at the Bloggers Brags party. I pinned your post to our group board on Pinterest. I can’t wait to see what you link up next week!
