The calming voice of William Shatner and sweet nature of the Clangers will quickly make this your kids’ new favorite show.
Have you heard of The Clangers? It’s a new show on Sprout geared towards preschoolers and narrated by William Shatner; yes Captain Kirk himself. The Clangers are a cute little family of pink elephant/mouse like creatures that live on a planet far away. The family consists of Granny, Major, Mother, Small and Tiny and teach kids through family interaction many social skills and life lessons including understanding diversity and difference, teamwork and being loyal.
Because the Clanger family doesn’t talk and the story is narrated by William Shatner I think the messages resonate better with my boys. The other day we were at the park and my oldest, Rohrl, was playing with some of his friends and they wouldn’t let his little brother in their clubhouse. I asked Rohrl what Small would do in this situation and he let his brother right in and found a way that he could play the game the bigger boys were playing too.
My boys really like music and there is plenty of music in The Clangers too. From the musical way they communicate (since they don’t talk) to Tiny’s Lullaby; you will find music in every episode.
This was one of their favorites:

You can watch Clangers every night on Sprout at 7PM Est/6PM CST/5PM MST/4PM PST and follow Clingers on Facebook and Twitter. Are there any lessons you are trying to work on with your kids? Clangers may be able to help!
