I don’t know if it’s because the kids are excited because they love the holiday season as much as I do, or if they get stir crazy because they want to go out and play but they don’t want to play in the cold (which hasn’t been an issue this week. Thank you Mother Nature and your 60 degree winter days); but my boys have been following me around like little puppy dogs everywhere I go. Do your kids do that? I can’t even leave a room without them right behind me wondering what I am doing or where I am going. I love having them close to me and I’m sure I’ll be kicking myself later in life for even complaining about but sometimes you just need your space.
After about 2 days of the being attached at the hip I knew I had to do something for my sanity. My good friend Meaghan at DIYFaerie had asked me to create a kid friendly gift or craft for her and I had remembered seeing on Pinterest awhile back quiet jars, which were designed to calm kids down or as a cool down toy if they get too riled up. This was exactly what I needed! So we went to the dollar store and Target and picked up the needed supplies (which cost me a whole $3) and came home to create.
Let me tell you; these things are a life saver! I keep them up in a cabinet so my boys can’t play with them all the time and get bored with them. And anytime I need a little me time to get some baking or crafting done, or just need to sit down for 10 seconds, I bring them out and my boys are entertained for at least 10-15 minutes; if not longer. What I think helped keep them excited too was the fact that they got to make them. They are so proud of themselves for making their bottles and they also know toys are inside so they love to shake the bottle up and show them to each other. Head on over to DIYFaerie and check out how to make these lifesavers today. You can thank me tomorrow 🙂
