Thank the man (or woman) who shovels your snow with this fun little gift including no sew hand warmers!
Last week we had our first snow storm of the season. Man I was not ready for it! I should have been since it usually snows in October (sometimes September) here but I was still holding out for a warm winter until Christmas Eve. Thankfully the snow was melted by the time we had to leave the house and no one had to go out in the cold to shovel. I really have nothing to worry about though; my husband is great at getting out and shoveling before anyone wakes up. And because of that I wanted to put together a little thank you gift for him.
This Post Shovel Gift Mug is perfect for your husband, wife, dad, neighbor, friend or anyone who braves the cold weather to make sure the walks and driveways are clear. You can personalize the gift to each person and it doesn’t cost a whole lot of money, less than $15. Plus it’s the gift that keeps on giving. Everything included can be used multiple times.
While I was Target stocking up on diapers and a few toys I picked up everything I needed for these. They have a huge selection of mugs and this blue is my husband’s favorite color so I just had to get it. I also picked up some honey and tea to warm him up and soothe his throat when he comes in and Ultra Strength Bengay® Cream. It is great for helping with the back aches that come from all that shoveling. Then I headed home to make my hand warmers.
I am not so great at sewing so I used my favorite no sew tape to make these hand warmers. I used some fat quarters I had laying around too and rice from the kitchen so it didn’t cost me a thing to make!
Supplies:
fabric (I used fat quarters)
no sew tape
scissors
rice
iron
Directions:
Measure and cut two 4″ squares out of fabric.
Measure enough no sew tape to cover the sides of the material.
Place no sew tape in between the two pieces of fabric leaving a small hole to pour rice in.
Use iron to heat tape and seal fabric together (about 15 seconds).
Pour rice in pouch about 3/4 of the way full.
Cut a small piece of no sew tape and place it in between the fabric where the hole for the rice is.
Use iron to heat tape and seal fabric together (another 15 seconds).
To use hand warmers heat in microwave for 20-30 seconds.
Now when he comes in from shoveling he will be able to warm up his hands, have a warm drink and have some relief from his aches and pains. Who would you gift this Post Shovel Gift Mug to?
