DIY Drum Clock - Tastefully Frugal

Create a clock your little drummer boy will love in a few quick steps.

Check out the other 29 amazing projects at the end of this post. But first, on to this drum clock. We are a pretty musical family. My husband plays the piano, trumpet and drums and both my boys play the piano and drums and I… well I can sing amazing in the shower! But by far, the boys favorite instrument to play are the drums.

For Christmas this last year we got my boys their first drum set and they are loving it! They love practicing every day and are getting pretty dang good if you ask me. So when I got the Large Round Clock in the mail it’s no surprise Statham, my two year old, got it out of the box and started drumming on it. I had a different idea of what I was going to do with the clock but after seeing that I knew a drum clock would be perfect!

I took inspiration from my boys’ drum set and went to work on making their drum clock. It was so easy to make all you need is:

Large Round Clock

3 Piece Clock Kit

Foam Paint Brushes (I used a 1.5″ brush for the face and 1″ brush for outside edges)

White Acrylic Craft Paint

Black ring and Remo logo cut out of vinyl (I love my Cricut Explore Air)

**I was originally going to use an actual Remo drum head (like these that we have on our drums) but decided to use vinyl because I already had it and you can’t beat free!

Directions:

Paint clock white. I did two coats and let dry for about 2 hours.

Create a 9.5″ circle and 2.75″ Remo logo in your design studio and cut out of black vinyl.

Attach vinyl to clock.

Following the instructions on the back of the clock kit to install the moving pieces.

I had planned on hanging this up in my boys’ music room but loved the way it looks so much (and they have enough music in their room) I decided to keep it in my office! Do you have little (or big) musicians at home? What are their favorite instruments?
