Add a little holiday fun to snack time with these Turkey Pudding Cups.
Now that summer is coming to an end we have really started diving in to tot school and preschool. We’re learning all about letters, numbers and even throwing a few piano lessons in here and there (thanks to my husband). I’ve found there are two things I can do that help my boys enjoy learning and make what they are learning stick. One is make things fun, a no brainer, and two, include food. My little guys love to play! They also love to eat; all day, every day.
Each week we focus on a new letter, number and/or subject and I try to incorporate what we’re learning into snack time. When we were learning about St. Patrick’s Day in March we had Leprechaun Juice and I have a whole line up of goodies for Halloween that I’ll be sharing in Tastefully Frugal’s Frightfully Fun Halloween in October. But we jumped ahead a little bit last week when we were working with the letter T. We started on Monday talking about words that start with T; turtle, train, turkey, Thanksgiving. Yes, Thanksgiving may be a few months away but on T week we learned all about it.
I didn’t want to make a whole turkey mid September but still wanted to do something fun for a snack. So when I was at Walmart picking up some school supplies (and a few baking supplies) and my boys saw Hershey’s Ready To Eat Pudding Packs. I knew they would be a good snack and something, hopefully, I could put a “T” spin on. When we got home I remembered the construction paper turkeys I made in elementary school; they would be perfect with these pudding cups!
Supplies:
Hershey’s Ready To Eat Pudding Packs
Red, Orange, Yellow and Brown Construction Paper
Wiggle Eyes
Glue Stick
Directions:
Cut feathers (2 red, 2 orange and 1 yellow), head (brown circle), nose (yellow triangle) and wattle (red) out of construction paper. (I used my Cameo and can send you the file if you’d like. Just comment with your email.)
Glue Wiggle Eyes, Nose and Wattle to the head.
Fan feathers out evenly and glue together.
Glue feathers on to one side of pudding cup.
Glue head on to opposite side of turkey.
Now this is one cute treat… that my boys had no problem destroying. They loved the rich, creamy flavor of the pudding. I like the fact that they are a high, quality snack made with real ingredients.
