I received free products in order to host the National Mom’s Nite Out party. The opinions expressed here are my own.
Get a group of moms together and celebrate National Mom’s Nite Out!
Have you heard of National Mom’s Nite Out? Yeah, it’s a real thing! A night when moms get away from the demands of home and get to spend time with friends catching up and just relaxing. #NMNO15 as you may see it on social media was on Thursday, May 7th this year. But you don’t have it on the same day. Any night you can get together for some fun is the perfect night.
Because being a mom is tough work; and because I had a particuraly rough week leading up to the week I decided to keep the party super low key. We were going to be watching Mom’s Night Out so I opted to serve my favorite movie watching treats. I bought World Market Popcorn in White Cheddar, Sweet & Salty Kettle Corn, Olive Oil and Herb and Lightly Salted (The Kettle Corn was the best but all of the flavors were really good), Chex Mix, Cheez Its, M&M’s and Starbursts. For the drinks we had bottled water and my favorite, Sparkling Lemonade. It made setup for the party so much easier just pouring treats into bowls instead of spending hours in the kitchen baking.
When the mamas arrived we chatted for a bit and then watched Mom’s Night Out. If you haven’t seen it you’re definitely missing out. We were laughing (and crying) the whole time. So much of what the characters go through in the movie, we as moms are going through or have gone through in real life. After the movie we planted succulents in wine glasses (tutorial coming soon) and then played “Guess the celebrity mom” to win prizes.
I think the prizes might have been everyone’s favorite part. To play the game I wrote down names of celebrity moms (both real life and fictional) and would give clues. The moms would guess who the mom was and the first one to get it right would get to pick one of these boxes. Inside the boxes with a number that correlated to one of the prizes. We had everything from books, to craft supplies, gift cards and my favorite the Owl Cookie Jar.
Every mom left with a prize, their succulents, and a gift bag filled full of goodies. There was Dove chocolates, chocolate covered raspberries, 52 Days of Summer cards (this tutorial coming soon; thank you Bicycle Cards for providing the cards) and photo paper and gummy candies courtesy of My Printly.
The theme for the night was to celebrate mom’s and everything we do; and to relax. And that went for the party hostess too. I wanted everything to be easy to prepare and there to be no guilt. By no guilt I mean I didn’t want moms leaving thinking they could never throw a party like that. This is definitely a party anyone can (and should) throw more than once a year. We all had so much fun we are already planning our next get together.
So what are you waiting for?! Get a group of friends together, relax and enjoy being you!
