I’ve found most of the Valentine’s I’ll be giving out (like these Stuck On You Valentines) from the Target Dollar Spot. Seriously, that place is a curse and a blessing all in one. I love EVERYTHING they have and I buy almost everything they have. As good as I am about not spending money on clothes and other unnecessary things, that Dollar Spot is my weakness.

When I was picking up ideas for Valentine’s Day a few weeks ago I saw these cute popcorn buckets and had to get some! We are big popcorn eaters and I knew they wouldn’t go to waste. But I also wanted to make a Valentine’s treat with them too. So I made a batch of air popped popcorn, melted some chocolate and poured some sprinkles over everything.You Make My Heart POP Valentine: A fun and easy Valentine treat perfect for large groups | Tastefully Frugal

Ingredients
  1. 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  2. 1/2 cup white chocolate melts
  3. Valentine's Day sprinkles
  4. Vegetable oil (optional)
Instructions
  1. Pop popcorn in air popper.
  2. Spread popcorn out on two cookie sheets.
  3. Melt chocolate in microwave in 30 sec. increments, stirring between each time until melted.
  4. (Optional) add a little vegetable oil to chocolate to make easier to drizzle.
  5. Drizzle melted chocolate over popcorn.
  6. Sprinkle sprinkles on top of chocolate and popcorn.

I had some cute pink bags leftover from last year I put the popcorn in and attached a cute little tag (Print your tags here). These would be great to hand out at class parties or in mom groups.

Can you believe that Fourth of July is next weekend?! If you ask most people what their favorite holiday is they would probably say Christmas or Thanksgiving, maybe even Halloween. But not this girl; Fourth of July has been my favorite holiday (aside from my boys’ birthdays) for as long as I can remember. From the parades to the BBQs and who doesn’t love the fireworks?! The last few years I’ve added making fun, festive treats to my list of favorite holiday activities (like my Cherry Lemon Berry Slush).

Now that my boys are getting a bit older I want to start new traditions with them and wanted to pass down my love of baking. And what better way to spread love than with cookies…and sprinkles! I took my favorite chocolate chip cookie added coconut (June’s ingredient for our Monthly Ingredient Challenge) and some festive sprinkles. 15 minutes later we had ooey gooey delicious cookies ready for dessert; or a mid-morning snack!

Ingredients
  1. 3/4 cup butter (1 1/2 sticks) softened
  2. 3/4 cup brown sugar
  3. 1/4 cup sugar
  4. 1 egg
  5. 2 tsp vanilla
  6. 2 tsp cornstarch
  7. 1 tsp baking soda
  8. 2 cups flour
  9. 1 cup white chocolate chips
  10. 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  11. red white and blue sprinkles
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Cream together butter and sugars.
  3. Add in egg and vanilla and mix to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl combine flour, cornstarch and baking soda
  5. Add flour mix to wet ingredients and mix to combine.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and coconut.
  7. Form dough in to teaspoon size balls and place on a greased cookie sheet.
  8. Flatten balls slightly with the palm of your hand and top with sprinkles.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes until cookies are golden around the outside.
  10. Let cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes then move to cooling rack and let completely cool.

Monsters Rice Krispie Treats

With just a few extra ingredients make regular Krispie treats into cute Monsters Inc. treats.

I didn’t realize how much my kids loved Rice Krispie treats until I posted my Baseball Mom Essentials and went through 2 boxes in a week. Since then I’ve had the pantry stocked with them. So when it came time to decide favors for my Statham’s Monsters University Party I knew some form of Rice Krispies were going to be a necessity.

Like I mentioned when I did Rohrl’s Star Wars Party in April I don’t like sending home goodie bags packed with candy and cheap toys; kids are already hyped up from the party and cake. They don’t need anymore sugar to help with that crash in a few hours. So when I am planning I try to plan a toy kids can play with for longer than a few hours and a small treat that both kids and parents will enjoy.

For the Monsters University Party I decided on Monsters Play Dough (coming soon) and these Monsters Rice Krispie Treats. And I have to say having had both the store bought and homemade in the last few weeks; homemade is WAY better! The nice thing with these treats is they take less than 5 minutes to make and are great for both small and large groups.

Ingredients
  1. 5 Tbsp butter
  2. 8 cups (plus 2 cups) mini marshmallows
  3. 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  4. 1 tsp blue sprinkles
  5. 1 tsp purple sprinkles
  6. 1 tsp green sprinkles
  7. 1 tsp candy eyes
Instructions
  1. Place aluminum foil in a 9x13 pan and grease lightly.
  2. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  3. Add 8 cups of mini marshmallows and stir with a wooden spoon until the marshmallows are just melted (about 3-4 minutes)
  4. Add Rice Krispie cereal to mix and stir to combine.
  5. Add in last 2 cups of mini marshmallows and stir.
  6. Stir in 1/2 tsp of blue sprinkles & 1/2 tsp purple sprinkles and stir to combine for Sulley. (For Mike Stir in 1/2 tsp green sprinkles & 1/2 tsp candy eyes)
  7. Add remaining blue and purple sprinkles for Sulley and pour into prepared pan. (For Mike use remaining green sprinkles and candy eyes)
  8. Sprinkle a few more blue and purple sprinkles on top for Sulley; green sprinkles and candy eyes for Mike.
Notes
  1. Let sit in foil for at least 30 minutes before serving. Store in air tight container.

Birthday Cake Milkshake: A Thick, Creamy Birthday Treat

This week my little Rohrl turns 3. I can’t believe he’s already three and at the same time I can’t believe he’s only three; he definitely is a threenager. Instead of one day of birthday celebrations I am spreading the love all through the week. Every day we’ll have a special treat or fun lunch or snack to celebrate.

After he devoured these Peanut Butter Milk Shakes I knew a milk shake was definitely on the list of birthday week treats. I took our family’s favorite ice cream flavor, added some sprinkles and whipped cream and made this fun, delicious shake. I’m over at It Is A Keeper today sharing the full recipe.
