Show your love for America with this easy to make wreath.4th of July Wreath: Show your Patriotic spirit with this easy DIY wreath | Tastefully Frugal

My favorite holiday (aside from my boys’ birthdays) is almost here. I love The 4th of July! From the parades to the parties to the food and of course the fireworks; I’ve been a huge fan of the holiday since I was a teenager. Now that I’m a mom I love planning holidays with my boys even more. We’ve been working together on some sweet treats (I’ll be sharing our 4th of July Slush recipe next week) and some fun affordable Patriotic Party Decor. Just last week we finished our 4th of July wreath.

4th of July Wreath: Show your Patriotic spirit with this easy DIY wreath | Tastefully FrugalWe had a ton of fun shopping for supplies for this wreath too. And by “we” I mean them running around Michael’s adding everything in sight to our cart and me hoping and praying they didn’t break anything. I still have a few grapevine wreaths that my dad found in his basement last year so all I had to buy were the accessories. Michael’s has such a great selection of red, white and blue flowers it was hard to pick just one so we picked two. I also got the patriotic ribbon, wooden letters and scrapbook paper on our Michael’s adventure.

4th of July Wreath: Show your Patriotic spirit with this easy DIY wreath | Tastefully FrugalSupplies:

18″ Grapevine Wreath

Red, White and Blue Plastic Flowers

3 in. Wooden Letters (U, S and A)

Scrapbook Paper in Red, White and Blue

Patriotic Burlap Ribbon

Hot Glue Gun

Mod Podge

Scissors

Directions:

Trace and cut letters out of scrapbook paper (I did the U red, S white and A blue)

4th of July Wreath: Show your Patriotic spirit with this easy DIY wreath | Tastefully FrugalCut stems on flowers with sharp scissors or an Xact0 knife about 4 in from bottom of flowers.

4th of July Wreath: Show your Patriotic spirit with this easy DIY wreath | Tastefully FrugalWrap burlap ribbon around center of flowers and tie into a bow.

Using the hot glue gun attach USA letters to the other side of the wreath.

4th of July Wreath: Show your Patriotic spirit with this easy DIY wreath | Tastefully FrugalPlace books (or something similarly heavy) on top of the letters for 30 minutes to help hot glue hold.

4th of July Wreath: Show your Patriotic spirit with this easy DIY wreath | Tastefully FrugalThe directions may sound similar to my Light & Bright Wreath I shared last month and that’s because they are basically the same, just with more letters. I loved how it turned out and how easy it was to make I replicated it for our Patriotic Wreath. Do you like to decorate for Independence Day? I’d love to see your pictures!4th of July Wreath: Show your Patriotic spirit with this easy DIY wreath | Tastefully Frugal

Summertime is my favorite time of year! I love Christmas and Halloween too but the summer holidays will always have a special place in my heart; especially Memorial Day and Independence Day. There’s just so much more you can do when the weather is warm and they days are long. I normally like to plan big get togethers but being 5 months pregnant my energy levels just aren’t what that they used to be.

Create a Festive Table for Memorial Day or 4th of July in an hour and for pennies | Tastefully Frugal AD #DipintoMeze #CollectiveBiasBut I can’t turn down a reason to get the family together so we are still Create a Festive Table for Memorial Day or 4th of July in an hour and for pennies | Tastefully Frugal AD #DipintoMeze #CollectiveBiasplanning a small get together for this weekend. I can’t go all out on the food or decor like I want to so I kept things simple and budget friendly. For the food we went with my new favorite, Sweet & Sour Chicken Kebabs and some tasty new dips.

Create a Festive Table for Memorial Day or 4th of July in an hour and for pennies | Tastefully Frugal AD #DipintoMeze #CollectiveBiasWhen I was at Walmart picking up chicken, pineapple and veggies for the kebabs I found these new Chobani Mezé™ Dips in the Deli section. The flavors all sounded amazing (Chili Lime, Roasted Red Pepper, Smoked Onion Parmesan and Three Pepper Salsa) and they are made with fresh vegetables and my favorite Chobani Greek Yogurt. And just like all of Chobani’s products they are made will all natural ingredients, which is really important to me. My boys loved the fresh food on the lids and insisted we get all 4. I was fine with that because they were a quick, easy and healthy addition to our Memorial Day party.Create a Festive Table for Memorial Day or 4th of July in an hour and for pennies | Tastefully Frugal AD #DipintoMeze #CollectiveBias

Create a Festive Table for Memorial Day or 4th of July in an hour and for pennies | Tastefully Frugal AD #DipintoMeze #CollectiveBiasI also picked up some tortilla chips, pita chips and a few extra veggies to have with the dip. I’ve found with most of our get togethers that our friends and family tend to lean towards water over soda or punches when it comes to drinks so I picked up a case of water and added these fun water bottle labels to them. You can print yours here.

I love shopping for party decorations at Walmart because everything is so affordable. I picked up the tablecloth for $.97, and these big bowls for chips and the long plates for the kebabs and veggies were only $.88. I wanted to do more than just put the utensils and napkins in a cup so I saved a few green bean and corn cans from dinner one week and made these cute utensil holders.

Create a Festive Table for Memorial Day or 4th of July in an hour and for pennies | Tastefully Frugal AD #DipintoMeze #CollectiveBiasI also wanted to add a relaxing ambiance for when it started to get dark out. For the candle holders I had my boys help me and they had so much fun; how can you not have fun getting to squish together rice and colors together in a bag?! The candle holder only took an hour to make and the majority of that time was letting the rice dry.

Celebrate America’s birthday with these patriotic cookies.

Red White & Blue Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies www.tastefullyfrugal.org

Can you believe that Fourth of July is next weekend?! If you ask most people what their favorite holiday is they would probably say Christmas or Thanksgiving, maybe even Halloween. But not this girl; Fourth of July has been my favorite holiday (aside from my boys’ birthdays) for as long as I can remember. From the parades to the BBQs and who doesn’t love the fireworks?! The last few years I’ve added making fun, festive treats to my list of favorite holiday activities (like my Cherry Lemon Berry Slush).

Now that my boys are getting a bit older I want to start new traditions with them and wanted to pass down my love of baking. And what better way to spread love than with cookies…and sprinkles! I took my favorite chocolate chip cookie added coconut (June’s ingredient for our Monthly Ingredient Challenge) and some festive sprinkles. 15 minutes later we had ooey gooey delicious cookies ready for dessert; or a mid-morning snack!

Twenty 4th of July Decor Ideas www.tastefullyfrugal.org

4th of July is just a few short weeks away. I couldn’t be more excited!! I know it sounds funny but 4th of July is my favorite holiday (after my boys’ birthdays of course). It’s great to get out in the sun, go to a parade, have a BBQ and see the fireworks. My boys are excited for the fireworks too. But as excited as I am for the holiday I’m sad to say I have not put one decoration up for our nation’s birthday. Well that is going to change this weekend. I’ve got inspiration from some pretty amazing bloggers and today I’m sharing twenty 4th of July decor ideas.
